In this blog, I adopt the perspective of philosophical anthropology as articulated by Barry Allen. He follows Protagoras in his thinking: “What measure there is, what value, proportion, ratio, or significance, comes from us, from our life and practice… Protagoras acknowledges the unavoidable humanity of understanding (even truth) and embraces it.” (Allen, p. 1)
Doing philosophy means, in part, that we take the long view and philosophical anthropology demands that we conduct inquiry into who we are. But where do we start?
